Atomic Structure Fundamentals

Unlock the secrets of the fundamental components that make up all matter. This course provides a clear path to understanding atomic structure, from basic definitions to the forces that hold atoms together. You will gain a solid foundation in the principles of atomic theory and develop the ability to explain the behavior of elements based on their atomic composition. What you'll learn: - Define and describe the key components of an atom, including protons, neutrons, and electrons. - Understand the historical development of atomic models and their significance. - Explain the concept of atomic number, mass number, and isotopes. - Grasp the principles of electron configuration and its relation to chemical properties. - Explore the quantum mechanical model of the atom and atomic orbitals. - Practice applying atomic structure concepts to understand chemical bonding. This course begins with essential terminology and basic concepts, guiding you through the foundational principles of atomic structure before moving to practical applications. It is designed for individuals new to chemistry or seeking to solidify their understanding of fundamental atomic principles, with no prior knowledge required.
