Atomic Structure Fundamentals

Unlock the secrets of the universe by understanding its fundamental building blocks: atoms. This course provides a clear, step-by-step introduction to atomic structure, equipping you with a solid conceptual foundation to comprehend chemical reactions, material properties, and the behavior of matter at its most basic level. What you'll learn: * Learn the historical development of atomic models, from early ideas to the Bohr model. * Understand the properties and roles of protons, neutrons, and electrons within an atom. * Explore electron shells, subshells, and orbitals, and how they determine electron configuration. * Grasp the fundamental concepts of quantum numbers that describe electron states. * Apply knowledge of isotopes and ions to differentiate atomic species and their charges. * Interpret how atomic structure influences an element's position and properties in the periodic table. Starting with historical discoveries, the course progressively builds up to modern atomic theory, covering subatomic particles, electron arrangement, and how atomic structure dictates chemical properties. This course is designed for absolute beginners with no prior knowledge of chemistry or physics, providing all necessary foundational concepts. Begin your journey into the microscopic world of atoms today.
