Fundamentals of Geography: Universe and Earth

Ever wondered how our vast universe began or what forces shaped the Earth we inhabit? Understanding the fundamental principles of geography provides essential insights into our world and beyond. This course will equip you with a solid grasp of both cosmic phenomena and terrestrial dynamics, enabling you to comprehend the interconnected systems that govern our planet. You will gain a clear perspective on Earth's place in the cosmos and its intricate physical geography. Learn the major theories behind the universe's origin and the formation of galaxies, stars, and our solar system. Understand Earth's geological history, internal structure, and the processes that create continents, oceans, and landforms. Explore atmospheric composition, global weather patterns, climate zones, and the dynamics of ocean currents. Apply concepts of latitude, longitude, time zones, and the causes of seasons and eclipses. Analyze fundamental principles of climate science, including the carbon cycle and the basics of environmental change. Practice interpreting basic geographical data and maps to understand spatial relationships and global distributions. The course begins with an exploration of the universe, from its origins to the formation of our solar system, before delving into the Earth's physical characteristics, atmospheric and oceanic systems, and finally, human interactions with the environment. This course is designed for absolute beginners with no prior knowledge of geography or astronomy. Start your journey to understand the world around you and its cosmic neighborhood.
